Restoration Update

We are coming to the end of the front 9 Restoration.  Today we are sodding around the fairway bunker on 7 and the fore bunker on 9.  We also are installing sod around a few of the tees on 9.  The expansion of the punch bowl green on 3 will also be finished today.  Next week we hope to complete the bulk of the project which will leave us with a couple of weeks of detail work.

Restoration Update

#2 green complex
We are just over one week into the restoration project and things are running very smooth.  Holes 2, 3 and 5 have been shaped and bunkered.  The shaper will be on 7 and 8 next week.  We have sod ordered for Monday and Thursday.  That will complete 2, 3, 5, 6 tee and 8 green complex.  If the weather continues to cooperate the shaper will be finished with the front 9 in two weeks and we will be two weeks behind him.

Fall Restoration

We began the fall restoration on September 11th.  We started on #2 and created a new forward tee and new bunkering around the green.  We also installed a new approach bunker.  Thursday, September 12th, a new tee complex for number 5 was shaped.  On Friday and Saturday the shaper attacked number 3 with two new fairway bunkers on the right corner of the fairway and a left fairway bunker past the turn.  He also created a punch bowl around number 3 green.  Today, which is Sunday, he is building two green side bunkers on #5 and shaping the green surround.

The staff has been busy cutting out disturbance areas, installing drainage in the bunkers and fixing irrigation.  We sodded #2 ladies tee on Friday and will begin installing sod by the semi load starting Tuesday.  Next week we hope to button up number 2 and 3.  The shaper will finish number 5 and start on 6.

I will update my blog weekly.

Restoration Update

The three hole restoration that began May 7th is coming to a close.  We are finishing up sod around the last bunker today.  We have a few couple championship and forward tees to build early next week and some small details to take care of, but other than that, we will call it good.

The project went fairly smooth other than some weather delays.  The staff did a great job and put in long hours to get the project completed.  I also want to thank the membership for their patience.  The project started 5 weeks late because of the weather, so we ended up completing the project in the heart of the golf season.

Restoration Update

We have had a great stretch of weather the last 12 days to progress with the restoration.  We have completed number 1&4 green complexes with the exception of the fine details. The fine details include expansion of the green pad and a couple pieces of sod here and there to finish the complex.  Our goal was to get the greens open for play as soon as possible and finish the details at the end of the project.  The final green complex to complete this spring is number 10.  The complex was rough shaped Saturday and the .25" of rain put a halt on any significant work on Sunday.  We hope the weather cooperates to complete this complex early in the week.

Fairway bunking and a few new tees are also part of the spring project.  Five of the ten fairway bunkers are shaped and ready for completion and one of the three new tees have been completed.

This week we hope the weather cooperates to complete #10 green complex and move to fairway bunkers.  I will update you at the end of the week with a progress report.

Course Restoration

Tuesday, May 7th, we will be starting our golf course restoration project.  In April,  the membership approved  three holes of the project to begin this spring.  The holes we are addressing are number 1, 4 and 10.  We were hoping to start the project a couple of weeks ago, but the cool wet spring got in the way.  The schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, May 7th:  Strip sod around #1 green complex and remove sand and liners from bunkers.  Remove irrigation heads that are in the way.  Begin shaping green complex.
Wednesday, May 8th:  Continue shaping complex and bunkers.  Repair irrigation.  Install drainage in bunkers.  Remove sand and liners from fairway bunkers.
Thursday, May 9th:  Start shaping fairway bunkers.  Sod green complex and bunker surrounds.
Friday, May 10th:  Haul sand to green side bunkers.  Install drainage in fairway bunkers. Start sodding fairway bunkers. Repair irrigation.
Saturday, May 11th:  Finish fairway bunkers.

I will update the progress at the end of each week.  We will move from number 1 to number 4.  Please be patient as we are doing the majority of the work in-house and along with the project we have normal golf course maintenance.

Spring Flooding

The golf course received 7.2" of rain over the last week with 4" of that coming in the last 36 hours.  The result was Indian Creek blowing out of its banks and flooding the golf course.  I assessed the situation this morning and the course isn't in too bad of shape.  We should be back to normal in a couple of days after we get things cleaned up and the course de-watered. The golf course will open at 10 AM Saturday.  As of  right now we are only opening the front 9. Cart usage and range will be assessed at the end of the day. Follow me on Twitter @crccsup for all golf course updates.
